At Googin’s Legendary Farm, we strive to provide healthful, affordable, and sustainable seafood. Our location in Casco Bay, Maine, and our method of growing shellfish allow us to provide great-tasting oysters with less grittiness than those obtained through practices like dredging.

Good for You:

Kelp, scallops, and oysters are packed with vitamins and nutrients that can help you lead a healthier, happier life. Kelp is rich in iodine, calcium, iron, and magnesium, as well as vitamins A, B12, and K. Scallops are high in protein and low in fat, and are also a great source of omega-3s. Oysters offer vitamins A and D and impressive amounts of protein, niacin, and riboflavin. Overall, these nutrients and minerals can potentially help improve heart function and energy levels and reduce inflammation and consequently risk for some chronic diseases.

Good for The Earth:

Oysters serve as a filter for ocean water, removing both organic and inorganic impurities. When compared with the water and land usage of standard livestock and crop farming, sea farms take up less space, use less freshwater, and utilize organisms that already exist in our oceans, with no need to introduce any harmful pesticides or nonnative species that negatively affect the environment.

Good for The Community:

Googin’s Legendary Farm is a member of the Maine Family Seafarm Cooperative, which helps small aquafarms work collectively along with academic leaders of the field and community organizations to improve communication, idea sharing, and public education.
